ARTIST & DESIGNER

A designer driven by curiosity, storytelling, and emotion; my work spans branding, logo design, publication and package design — often combining mixed media and thoughtful narratives to create bold, poetic outcomes. I approach each project with intention, crafting visual identities and experiences that are both striking and sincere.

Product Design

Fabric based, home-stitched prototype
TechSkin is an ergonomic, fabric-based controller sleeve that enhances grip, comfort, and visual appeal through culturally inspired design. I developed the concept during a 10-day residency focused on product innovation, where I researched, sketched, and prototyped the design while also learning about the business side of launching a product — from costing and IP to pitching. The experience challenged me to think beyond design into marketability and storytelling.

Game Skin Prototyping

Using the idea of making fabric patterns for dressmaking, I designed the first prototype covers.

First Prototype Process

  • Layering it with plastic cling foil then masking tape - a method usually used for making custom dressmaking patterns
  • After sketching out cut lines and cutting it, mirroring it onto fabric, it’s then meant to be stitched together
  • For quick prototyping onto cloth, I simply cut the masking tape cover in half before cutting out the little pieces within the pattern

2nd Prototype

  • This is where I cut the first pattern into smaller bits but due to the complex shape of the controller I quickly realized creating my vision of a prorotype would  require professional understanding of patternmaking and stitching. So I decided to move on to create something that was more like a silhouette.

3rd Prototype

  • Making another tape skin of a controller, i focused on the important curves and shapes that needed to be firm, and properly reinforced to cut and later put together.
  • I researched then bought some afforadable material locally that closely resembled the material I’d been researching.

4th Prototype (Outsourced Production)

  • Done by a local upholstery shop; despite the crude cuts, this prototype helped to understand the further complexity of crafting  a cover that has dual functionality i.e. in storage and during play.

Project Limitations and Solutions

  • Tried Slicer for Fusion 360, Blender, Rhino3D softwares to create a dummy model to prototype on (to prevent any damage to my actual equipment), however due to time constraints and a number of technical issues that mostly seasoned users can solve, I decided to save it for future prototyping purposes.
  • Marketable or not? Is it worth the investment? I had to really examine what materials, production methods, marketing and business strategies would be optimal for getting my product into an actual home.
